The entire machining process of a CNC lathe is achieved by executing the machining program of the workpiece. Therefore, the quality of programming directly affects the final machining accuracy and efficiency of the workpiece. The prerequisite for programming the workpiece processing program is the determination of the process arrangement. This article briefly introduces the process principles that CNC lathe machining should follow, hoping to be helpful to everyone.
We know that a CNC lathe is a highly complex machining equipment. Before programming the workpiece machining program, the machining process should be determined based on the design requirements and machining content of its drawings. Generally speaking, the principles for determining processing technology should follow the following basic principles:
1、 The principle of rough processing followed by fine processing
In general, in order to ensure the machining quality of the workpiece, we divide the workpiece machining into two stages: rough machining and precision machining. For workpieces with high machining accuracy, we also add a semi precision machining stage. This principle should also be followed when performing CNC machining on a CNC lathe.
During rough machining of workpieces, it is possible to quickly remove most of the machining allowance, minimize the number of tool cuts, and shorten the rough machining time; During precision machining, the main focus is on ensuring the accuracy and surface quality of the workpiece. Therefore, the final contour of the workpiece should usually be formed by continuous precision machining with the last blade.
2、 Principle of one-time clamping and positioning
One clamping to achieve multi process machining of workpieces is the basic machining characteristic of CNC lathes. Therefore, when determining the workpiece processing technology, it is necessary to concentrate each processing step to the maximum extent possible. Minimize the number of clamping times as much as possible to reduce unnecessary positioning errors and repetitive clamping processes.
3、 The principle of processing from inside to outside
When the workpiece to be processed has both inner and outer surfaces that need to be processed, when arranging the processing sequence, the inner surface of the workpiece should be processed first before the outer surface. If staged processing is carried out, rough processing of the inner and outer surfaces should be carried out first, followed by precision processing of the inner and outer surfaces.
4、 The principle of processing from face to hole
As we mentioned earlier, a CNC lathe is a composite machining tool that can not only perform turning but also boring machining. When there are both flat surfaces and holes on the workpiece to be processed, the sequence of turning the flat surface first and then boring the hole should be carried out, because the cutting force is large when turning the flat surface, and the workpiece is prone to deformation. Turning the surface first and then boring the hole allows it to recover for a period of time, and then boring the hole after it recovers its deformation, which is conducive to ensuring the machining accuracy of the hole.
